I am a Singaporean living in Taiwan and am a current Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) student in the graduate Institute of Applied Arts, Wood Department in Tainan University of the Arts., Taiwan (TNNUA).
Wood to me is not only a building material, but also a highly decorative one. It is a living object which has its own story to tell. As a woodworker, I am responsible for using this precious resource effectively and thoughtfully. As an artist, I move from creating functional furniture toward crafting meaningful art objects. Exploring the intersection between furniture and art remains an ongoing research and practice in my work.
In 2013, I trained in the UK on a professional furniture-making course. Upon returning to my home country, I started making bespoke furniture and functional objects, eventually building up an international clientele who trusted me as a designer-maker. This period was about honing precision, design, and the craft of beauty in function.
I fell in love with photography in my late teens and went on to work across documentary, portraiture and commercial projects. Though no longer my profession, this archive remains a record of how framing, light and storytelling first shaped my way of seeing.
